You should arrange to stay home for at least two or three days following surgery and engage in just light activity. You can use the time to read, do some quiet work or just catch up on some rest. If you've done everything you can to prepare for your surgery, this can be an enjoyable time-out from your regular routine in Southern California.
After breast implant surgery, driving will be off limits for at least 24 hours, or until the effects of the anesthesia are completely gone. And it's a good idea not to get behind the wheel if you're taking prescription pain medication.
You can expect some discomfort and swelling for the first few days. These can be controlled with medication, if needed, and you may benefit from ice packs or cool compresses. Avoid lifting and other arm movements that put strain on your chest muscles until your surgeon gives you the green light. And follow his instructions for bathing and caring for incisions.
If your job is not overly strenuous, you should be able to return to it within a week or several days. You can also begin light exercise such as walking a few days after surgery. But be advised that you will tire more easily than normal for a while; don't push yourself too hard.
